Find the relevant records
Search names and source aliases, browse record categories, and narrow the working view using research filters.
Leggett Labs / Custom research software
Built for a policy analyst, First Nations Policy Atlas brings Ontario community records, treaty context, historical school records, and organizational affiliations into a searchable research workspace. Record details keep supporting sources and research limitations close at hand.

Captured September 20, 2026. Illustrative map; geographic-review caveat and attribution retained.
The need
Community directories, mapping datasets, historical records, and organization publications each provide part of the picture.
Research involves moving between those sources, tracking relationships, and remembering what is established and what still needs checking. The Atlas was built to organize that work around an analyst’s research process.
The application
Search names and source aliases, browse record categories, and narrow the working view using research filters.
Bring community, treaty, and historical school layers into the same research interface. Representative points and illustrative treaty polygons provide context while retaining their stated limitations.
Open a community record or organization profile to inspect affiliations, supporting links, recorded dates, and review notes. Unverified information and differing sources remain visible.
How it works
Search for a community or choose the records relevant to your research.
Open a record and review its location information, organizational relationships, and research notes.
Follow the linked sources and review dates and limitations before drawing conclusions.
The Leggett Labs contribution
Leggett Labs translated a policy analyst’s research needs into a custom web application: searchable records, geographic context, connected organization profiles, and source information presented within the same workflow.
The project demonstrates how a focused tool can organize complex information around the people who need to use it.
